UAS is founded on an alliance of Singapore\u2019s pioneering and leading arts institutions, LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE)<\/strong><\/a> and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA)<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in the heart of the arts and civic district, LASALLE and NAFA are distinguished by unique heritages, strong artistic traditions, and innovative teaching approaches. Our trailblazing faculty and alumni have earned national recognition, including Cultural Medallions and Young Artist Awards, championing Singaporean creativity on the global stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UAS will generate new artistic thinking and discourse by creatively combining teaching, practice, and research. Collaborating with arts communities and industry partners locally and internationally, our graduates will energise the cultural landscape and the creative economy. We will strengthen Singapore as a creative hub in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcoming our first intake in 2024, LASALLE and NAFA will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with degrees awarded by UAS.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“SINGAPORE – Students joining the new University of the Arts Singapore (UAS) in 2024<\/a> will need to take up at least one internship, and complete modules that will prepare them for work and the wider world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with The Straits Times, UAS vice-chancellor Kwok Kian Woon said students will also have to take courses as part of a common curriculum that is beyond their main specialisation. These could include topics such as communication, digital literacy and social issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

UAS \u2013 the first in Singapore to focus on the arts \u2013 will take in its first cohort of students across undergraduate degrees and Master of Arts programmes in August 2024. It is expecting an intake of more than 700 students.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
