In Google’s Data Cloud & AI Summit 2023, the latest innovations in Google Data Cloud for databases, data analytics, business intelligence, and AI are revealed.
While this is not that relevant to you at a junior level, one day you maybe working for organisations that require you to integrate Application Programming Interface (API)s with whatever software or website that you may be building.
APIs are a way to package a software targeting specific use-cases, that allows it to be integrated to another software as a feature. Programmers that create APIs may also sell those APIs via a form of business model called “software-as-a-service (SaaS)“.
When you have time now while studying, it is always good to look at the APIs offered by the Big Tech companies e.g., Google, Microsoft, Amazon, so that you can imagine what kind of software/APIs you can create and sell in future.
Even if you are planning to work for a company, spending sometime to catch up on new commercial software offerings can give you some awareness of the software landscape. Once you go out to work, if you are given the opportunity to advice your company in exploring new technologies and procuring new tools, you will already have a list at the back of your mind.
