As we enter the Digital Age, Cybersecurity becomes a new dimension for National interest.

Fresh news from the oven today. The federal government of Australia will be appointing a senior officer to lead efforts on cybersecurity that seeks to unify corporate and public sectors.

“The government will announce the new post – the co-ordinator for cyber security – on Monday when it assembles business and government leaders for a meeting that aims to step up defences in corporate and public systems.”

More details can be found in this news article from The Sydney Morning Herald. Ref: https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/cybersecurity-to-get-national-supervisor-in-wake-of-hack-attacks-20230226-p5cnpq.html

As governments wake up to the need to defend their cyber spaces, this will create ripples in the ways that future web/mobile/localised applications will be designed. There will also be new needs being surfaced to create cyber toolkits or information content (multimedia) for cyber defense matters.

All these means that the builder and creator classes within the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector will see continued/altered and maybe increased demands for their skills and knowledge.
