Dear Class,

Early this year, your classmates Aaron John and Conroy participated in the annual Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC) competition.

Anyways to continue the story, your two classmates spent 5 intense days after their Year 2 Term 1 exam to acquire the electronics parts to experiment with building a flying machine.

As they are Infocomm students with no prior knowledge of aerodynamics or electronics, the knowledge and skills gap were large. Given the tight deadline, the team treated it as a learning journey, going down to various hobby shops in Singapore asking for advice and sourcing for parts.

The team encountered many kind souls during this journey. In particular, Mr. Eddie from Hobby Square LLP guided and instructed the two students on various designs and parts to explore. The team was able to successfully set up a running motor after experimenting with both brush and brushless motor, as well as figured out a way to rotate the rudders of the plane up and down.

While the team did not manage to clear the flight-test of the competition, their experimentation and valuable contacts gained from the journey is commendable.

May they do better next year 💪.
