“Flipper Zero is a portable multi-tool for pentesters and geeks in a toy-like body. It loves hacking digital stuff, such as radio protocols, access control systems, hardware and more.”

The open source multi-tool device was first launched in Kickstarter and gained interest in the research and pentesting community due to its unique design and capabilities.

It started to create waves internationally during the devices’ launch windows, when The Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency seized incoming Flipper Zero purchases due to probable alleged uses in criminal activities.

“Just like the smartphone, the Flipper is a demonstration of technological convergence, merging many different devices into one slick package…
All this functionality is, in itself, legal. Just as with a set of lockpicks, the (ethical and moral) line is not the possession or even use of the tools, but how the tools are used. Attacking your own network or cloning your own key card is one thing, going after someone else’s is another.”
