Dear class,
The school discipline team is sending out a notice.
If you are not aware, since 1st January 2021, the Minimum Legal Age for purchase, possession or use of tobacco products is 21 years old.
In light of tighter rules in catching young offenders, patrol teams within school and in the neighborhoods are increasing.
In the event you are caught vaping, you will be referred to Health Science Authority (HSA) and issued with a Notice of Composition (fine). Fine for first offenders will not exceed $2,000.
In terms of caught with cigarettes below 21 years old… please be smart. The fine for first offenders is at maximum $2,500 and it goes up in subsequent fines.
As I mentioned in class, the key issue is not about the fine. The key issue is that you will have a discipline record in the school system. This will in future hinder your chances of being nominated and selected for student support resources and privileges such as bursaries, scholarships, overseas trips, student leader teams etc.
So please avoid breaking the major school rules, please.
